Plenty of equipment around the valley outlives the company that built it. When a component fails and there is no drawing, no supplier and no spare, the part itself becomes the drawing.
It gets measured, modelled and remade — sometimes improved along the way, if the original failed for a reason worth designing out.

Sometimes welding and re-machining beats making a new one.
